This is a plea for help for the animals at Pig Tales and the humans that care for them. The Sanctuary has been hard hit by several extraordinary expenses during the last few weeks. Drought in Florida necessitated a new well. The old panel truck which is used to transport feed, old produce and bread, had to have major repairs. Simultaneously, Lory's wheelchair broke down. Lory's workcomp carrier (CSX) refused to help, so after spending several days in bed, Lory had no option but to buy a new (used) wheelchair.

Before these expenses occurred, Lory had managed to save a little bit of money and had even placed a deposit on a Bobcat, which a neighbor was selling. Now, she may lose that deposit and this wonderful piece of equipment, which would serve so many useful purposes at Pig Tales, as well as eliminate future rental fees.

The price of feed has increased, and Lory is finding it difficult to scrape together the funds to feed her critters. Please forward this email and spread the word about this pressing, urgent need. Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated.

On the positive side, Pig Tales is acquiring tires for recycling (called "beneficial reuse" by the EPA), to construct fencing and shelters for the pigs. This is an environmentally friendly project that is providing excitement for our volunteers. We are happy and blessed to be able to make good use of these tires that would otherwise be taking up space at the local landfill.

Lory's "wheels" are always turning! She thinks outside the box and looks for ways to provide for her "children", using whatever resources are available.

We recently had an unexpected addition. "Wooly Bully", a small friendly piggie, was left on our doorstep, so to speak. I'm sure her owner knew she'd fit right in!

The documentary is in the final stages, and the directors, as well as those that have previewed it, are singing its praises. The website www.whenpigsflythemovie.com will soon be up and running.

We are thankful for all of our friends who provide their support in so many ways and assist us in our mission, promoting man's responsibility to care for the earth and earth's creatures.
