A Stop At Hadrian's Wall

Hadrian's Wall runs across the entire breadth of England, just south of the Scottish border. Parts have completely disappeared into neighboring contemporary structures. Other parts of the wall are remarkably intact. It was very exciting to see a part of history (built around 60 A.D.) so up close and personal.

The deep and wide gulley beside the wall was intentional. It was created by the Romans as a defense mechanism.
