The Dingle Peninsula, and the Blasket Islands

The following pictures were taken of the southwestern coastline of Ireland. This area is rich in history. Here sit the Blasket Islands, now deserted of people (evacuated in 1953). The drive is magnificent through this region of Ireland. It was here that they filmed the 'The Quiet Man', starring John Wayne. This 32 mile Slea Head drive holds all the beauty of the Dingle Peninsula.

The stone shelter (dome) below is just one of a handful of hermit shelters surviving till today.
