The Clava Cairns in Scotland

The Clava Cairns are a locally known prehistoric ritual site. These stone circles are aligned with the Winter Solstice, opposite of Stonehenge with it's Summer Solstice.

On a morning of the Winter Solstice, light would have found it's way into the inner chambers of these stone structures.

In some of these they have found human remains, along with personal items they may have been interred with.

These stone ritual sites rival Stonehenge in every way. The are also accessible to personal inspection - Stonehenge was not.
